Eragon

In the 10th grade my friend gave me a certain book that she said that I should read. I looked at the book, read the back, and kindly gave it back to her saying that there was no way that I'd ever read it. In 12th grade, after a lot of discussion with my friend, she finally talked me into reading this book. The first thing I did was take off the cover, which was the reason I chose not to read it in the first place. I loved the book. I loved the complexity of the characters. I loved the depth of the story. When it ended I hungered for more. What was this book? Well, you might laugh at me when I tell you this but it was Eragon. This book changed the way I thought about reading (not trying to be dramatic). I can admit that before reading the story of "Shadeslayer" I was quite the novice reader. I think that's the reason why this book is, and always will be, one of my favorites.

I remember the first time I read this book. I sat on my bed all night pining over the story. In my ignorance I prayed that the characters would be okay. As I read from the pages the story came alive to me. The world of Alagaesia came to life in my bedroom as I learned about Eragon, Saphira, and Brom. This might be a book for young adults but I'd recommend it to anyone.

If you're interested in reading this book do not watch the movie first. The movie does not do the book justice. It is an ignorant portrayal (or betrayal) of the story. In fact, I wouldn't watch the movie at all.

The fourth and final book is coming out in November and I'm waiting with bated breath. I can't wait to find out what happens to the characters that I've grown to know over the last few years. I'll always be in debt to a friend who kept harassing me until I finally relented and read this book.

PS- I'm not working for the next few days so If I can manage the time to write on here I'll update. If not, then you'll have to wait until next Friday to hear from me again.

I also loved Eragon and I agree, the movie does not do justice!
